This book is written by a two time Olympic runner. Dr. Marius Bakken is a Norwegian long distance runner who gave up international fame to become a doctor. He stopped participating in competitions in 2007 to concentrate on his studies.
Making the book
Even though Dr. Bakken stopped competing, his love for the sport never wavered. In fact, he wrote this book because he knows that not everyone can fly to Norway just so he can help them. He actually had a friend who asked him for help. This friend of his had no marathon experience. He gave that friend, Samdal, a training program to follow. Samdal ran in the 2005 New York City marathon and was even at the top 500.
Prior to this eBook’s release, the training program was tested on 20 runners. It showed positive results. The book was formally released in July 2009. It became somewhat controversial because of the hybrid approach that he developed.
After training in Kenya and Italy, he developed a training plan that incorporated the best of both. The result is this 100 day marathon plan that is made to help runners of different levels.
